What Is Holding You Back?

Updated: Jun 5

Affirmation Introductions- Read this if this is your first time to clarify the intentions of why we want to implement affirmations to better our vocal ability. To do anything well, your mind has to be in it.

Mondays are tough but it is also a significant start of a new beginning. We can choose to start well or drag our feet into another week. That decision sets your mind on a certain course. The most rational thing to assure yourself a good week would be to see yourself, affirm yourself, celebrate yourself. Mel Robbin reminds us, for those who are stuck, we tend to withhold the affirmation, celebration until we accomplish worthy of.

Understanding that the order in which we think is necessary only adds to the dread and negativity to the process of getting to our goal. Suppose we flipped the order of that process and become aware that we need to provide ourselves with the support, celebrate the small victories and acknowledgement in order to hit that number on the scale.

This simple flip empowers and equips you to face whatever obstacle coming your way with built-in confidence that you have worked on, empowers you to do the things that might even scare you. Why wouldn't you want that? Start your week by doing something that serves you.

These vocal Affirmations will be rolled out weekly, easy for you to pick and choose. Commit to it at least for 30 days. You will feel an instant change in your mood, the way your self-talk, the way you perceive yourself and respect yourself.

It will feel weird at first but don't worry, I got you. Focus on the bigger picture and sooner or later you will find yourself enjoying the obstacles coming your way. Let's empower our voice!

Recap of our first two weeks:

Starting a brand new week with a bold affirmation! For today's affirmation, we can start identifying what is holding us back. Is it our circumstance, thoughts, feelings, actions, fear of an unfavourable result?

Start letting go of what is not beneficial to us moving forward.

Getting stuck is a very common position we can find ourselves in. Don't worry, you are not alone in this. Having gone through this gave me the clarity I needed to define my destination, figure out what I needed to do in order to get there, found out who I needed to help me get there.

What is your current perception of facing this (state of being stuck) head-on?

The word "current" used here is so evident of what needs to change in order to move forward. What is currently holding us back? Do we want to move forward to reach our goals? Are we willing to put in the work to get there? These answers to these questions seem obvious enough but if we don't make it easy for us to follow through then it will be just lip service.

I believe for something so internal to change, I usually give it 3 months to give me enough information to know if this change is working for me or not. 3 months is short enough to stick to but long enough to make an intentional change in mind, body, and spirit. Give yourself a good and fair chance before you cut yourself short in succeeding because YOU CAN BE THAT PERSON WHO SUCCEEDS.

I want to make this so clear to everyone that nothing from our past can hold us back. If you are affected by someone pushing their beliefs on you that have kept you from doing something you love, especially to sing, then this affirmation is for you!

When you begin to affirm yourself today...

  1. Write down all the beliefs that you have formed about your voice. ✅ List down both positive and negative. ✅ Identify the origin (past) of those beliefs. 📌Which incident made you believe that about yourself? 📌Who was it that told you and what made that think that about you? ✅ Identify and list down your thoughts or worries (future) that has caused you to feel stuck. 📌 What are some fears that you may have that is causing inaction?

  2. Upon reflection, will these beliefs serve you in reaching your goals? ✅ Go down the list and do a vote of a yes or no and articulate why so?

End of the Week Question

What is the hardest part about releasing all thoughts and worries?
